Parents of boys and girls who are in Community or have been in Community held a Support Group Meeting at Boarbank Hall on February 27th 2016.
It was well attended and Fr Michael from Liverpool lead the meeting with prayers, mass and meaningful discussion on the effects of addicted sons and daughters on parents and how Cenacolo have been of great support to families.
A number of parent gave moving testimonies of their experiences of addicted sons or daughters and how it has affected them as parents, thanking the support groups for their mutual understanding of the difficulties that they have been through. Many of their children are on their walk to recovery in various community houses, with others having exited Cenacolo and living normal family lives outside the community. It was agreed by all that Cenacolo gave new hope to addicted young people through pray, hard work and the companionship of like minded boys and girls. They all expressed overwhelming appreciation for the help that they have received.
Boarbank Hall provided excellent facilities for the parents meeting. The old manor house is set in beautiful gardens with scenic views over the estuary. A very comfortable lounge is made available for the meeting and there is a Chapel within the building. Catering for all meals is provided and there are bedrooms to accommodate those who would like to stay overnight. All at a reasonable cost.
It was therefore decided by those attending that the next Parents meeting would be held there. Date to be arranged.
