Nativity Open Day 2014

007What an amazing day the 29th November turned out to be! The weather was so out of character for the end of November; it was bright, sunny, almost balmy! But the amazement was not just down to the weather, it was down also to the joy of sons meeting their parents for the first time in six months; the congregating of the friends who support the brothers and all that goes on with the twice yearly Open Day at Cenacolo.

010This Nativity Open Day was long in the planning but all the hard work paid off. After the brothers had greeted their parents, all made way to the upper barn which doubled as a meeting place and chapel. Here, under the gaze of the exposed Blessed Sacrament, the rosary was recited inviting our Blessed Lady to continue to support the brothers in their ‘walk’ in the Community.

021After a brief pause, Holy Mass was celebrated and by this time the chapel had filled up, indeed, to over-flowing! What a joyous celebration it was!

Following an extended lunch during which the brothers spent time with their parents and friends of the Community, all once again adjourned to the chapel for a period of adoration and for news from the Mother House, for testimonies of one of the brothers and two parents.

028As evening arrived the focus of activity was outside the barn and on the field adjacent to the House, here the nativity was played out in front of a very appreciative audience. It was a truly remarkable event with the set having been built by the brothers, the lighting just right, the music and acting ever so professional. It was a great joy to behold!

All went home at peace and pleased to have been part of such a spiritual and joyful day.
