From the Lads

We would like to share with you what has been happening in the House over the last few months. In February some of the lads received training and certification in how to use the woodworking machinery in our workshops. This enables us to work safely and we gained knowledge on how to use the tools in the correct way.

In March the members of the Liverpool prayer group came to the House with Fr Michael who celebrated Mass; Jack and Daniel gave testimonies. Later that month, Greg came for his working days from the Liverpool meeting and decided to enter. Also James and Jack gave testimonies to the Rotary Club in Kendal. Towards the end of the month the work on fitting the new kitchen was completed.

April started with converting the old kitchen and the welcoming room into the new dining room.

As a House, we took part in the celebration of the Easter Triduum at Holy Trinity & St George parish in Kendal. We spent Easter Sunday with Fr Chris; he had arranged football for us and then we had lunch with him. We are grateful for this and the other things that he does for us. On Easter Monday Fr Philip Conner took us to Broughton in Furness where we had Holy Mass and lunch and a hike up into the hills. We greatly appreciate the hospitality of the family who cared for us.

After the Easter Celebrations had past, some of the lads went to help remove brambles for the local Forestry Commission.

Fr Manny Gribben invited us to give testimonies in his parishes at Kirkham and Wesham; Jack, Daniel & Fabio went to share their stories.

With May came the arrival of Fr Andrea for the Anniversary Open Day. He brought with him Carlo, who is a member of the Community and is married with a family in Italy. Also he brought three new Italian lads to stay at our House: Max, Andrea & Enrico. The weekend was a great time with the Barn full for Rosary, Adoration & Testimonies from the lads and some of their parents. Mass was celebrated by Fr Chris and Fr Andrea and everyone shared together in a meal afterwards. On Sunday, the anniversary day itself, there was a great time of Rosary and Adoration. Then some of the Friends who had been associated with the opening of the House at Dodding Green told their stories of how they had to fight to gain civil permission to open the Cenacolo at Dodding Green. The testimonies were heartfelt and moving and the Community and Lads will be thankful for many years to come at the work that so many people put in for us to be able to be here today. The weekend ended with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael Campbell OSA. That evening Jack left with his parents for his verifica and the following morning Fr Andrea and Carlo headed back to Italy with Jonathan and Fabio who had been transferred.

The following week Christian from London came to do his ‘working day’ and decided to enter. Daniel and John visited the prayer group for Cenacolo at Our Lady and St Edwards and shared their testimony.

At the start of June, Reece from Wales came for his ‘working days’ and he also decided to enter. Then, Neil from Warrington arrived for his working day and he also entered.

We also attended the anniversary Mass for the Scottish Prayer Groups, Marco, John, Daniel & Jack gave testimonies after the Mass. Whilst in Scotland, we accompanied Mary McNally to Kilgraston School to give testimonies and share about the Community.
